Chapter Officers

The Jedediah Strong Smith Chapter of the FCF has been served by a number of dedicated chapter officers. The leadership of these unique individuals have helped to sustain and increase the character of the chapter. All chapter position are attained by appointment except for the competition that is held to determine the Chapter Scouts. The Jed Smith Chapter has been honored by chapter scouts that have gone on to become National and Territorial Scouts - the likes of Eric 'Two Tails' Chitwood, Ray 'Torrito' Del Toro and Zach 'Oso' Evans. The New Mexico District Chapter of the Frontiersmen Camping Fraternity was officially formed on August 11, 1972. The officials in charge were; Paul Johnson, Territorial Representative; David Franklin, National FCF Scout; Rev. Don Franklin, National Training Coordinator; and Alan Gell, Regional Coordinator.

The Charter members were: Windy Brumfield, Dean Garrison, Duane Garrison, Travis Keeney, Robert Keister, C. Eddie Lee, Otis Morehead, Robert O'Conner, Dee Oldham, Raymond Ruane, and Bill Spurgeon.

The name Jedediah Strong Smith Chapter was approved in April of 1973. Original dues were $5.00 a year due on the first day of January. The first appointed President of the Jedediah Strong Smith Chapter was Travis 'Smoke' Keeney.
